Frisco Hill Auto

St. Louis, MO · St. Louis & Metro East · Est. 1973

Owned by Chris Doria, who took over in 2016 from original owner Dave Trokey

Frisco Hill Auto has been a St. Louis fixture since 1973; Chris Doria took it over in 2016 from original owner Dave Trokey. They're refreshingly specific about what they do in-house — metal fabrication, an in-house paint booth and painter, upholstery, electrical, and mechanical — and equally clear about what they sublet: machine work, transmission rebuilds, chrome and trim polishing, and media blasting. That transparency is itself a good sign; it's the straight answer the vetting questions are designed to get.

Best suited for

Body, paint, upholstery, and mechanical restoration where you value a shop that's upfront about what it sublets. Note: engine machine work and transmission rebuilds go out.

  • 2.Ask to see a recent restoration and the owner's contact for a reference.
